Electronic Data Processing Test (EDPT)
Electronic Data Processing Test (EDPT) Electronic Data Processing Test (EDPT) On the off chance that you are viewed as an occupation in the Air Force or Marine Corps that centers around either registering abilities, programming, or other logical applications, you will get the opportunity to step through another sort of examination called the EDPT - Electronic Data Processing Test. The employments in the Air Force and USMC that require this test are the following:The EDPT is utilized for two Air Force Specialty Codes: 9S100 and 3D0X4 and the USMC Military Occupational Specialty (MOS 4034). Its generally rationale type issues. Its extreme, long, and you need to go snappy. The best exhortation is to avoid any inquiries that are troublesome, at that point return. Dont leave any clear answers. Here are the subtleties of the test just as the kind of occupations that require the EDPT: 9S100 â" SCIENTIFIC APPLICATIONS SPECIALIST The utilization of atomic weapons anyplace on the planet immensy affects our country's strategies. It's the activity of Scientific Applications Specialists to find signs that have been deserted so as to recognize when an atomic weapon has been tried. Using aptitudes in arithmetic, hardware and material science, these specialists assemble and break down information to guarantee we know when and where atomic abilities are being utilized, giving us the information we have to make a move when essential. 3D0X4 â" COMPUTER SYSTEMS PROGRAMMING The Air Force requires incalculable PCs to achieve crucial/7. The PC and the framework/organize is just in the same class as its product and the individuals who work it - Computer Systems Programming Specialists. These experts compose, break down, plan and create programs that are basic to our war-battling capacities - from upkeep following projects to programs that arrange and show knowledge information. 4034 MOS - Marine Corps Computer Operator The Marine Corps needs shrewd IT folks as well. Somebody prepared and talented to screen and control electronic PC and information handling hardware to process business, logical, building, and other information as indicated by working directions is a vocation obligation that would influence the whole Marine Corps on the off chance that it didn't work appropriately. At the point when different Marines experience issues, these IT Marines must have the option to analyze issues via telephone and help PC users. Being ready to enter rationale orders, utilizing work station, and actuate controls on PC and fringe hardware to coordinate and work gear so as to support software engineers and frameworks examiners test and investigate new projects. About the EDPT The EDPT is regulated at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) during your day at handling. There are around 120 inquiries to be replied in a time of an hour and a half. All inquiries are various decision with five accessible responses for each. It is a paper and pencil test, not automated, and the testing staff furnished me with two sheets of scratch paper and a pencil (number crunchers are not permitted). The test was separated into four sections: analogies, math word issues, sequencing and examples, and pictorial analogies. Analogies The similarity questions are much the same as those given on the SAT - _____ is to ______ as ______ is to _____. One needs to decide the connection between the initial two words and discover the appropriate response that has a similar relationship to the third word given. Math Word Problems The math word issue questions are only that word issues. The inquiries join a great deal of superfluous data into the wording and one must have the option to pull out the data required and dispose of the trash. The inquiries themselves didn't require an amazingly significant level of scientific capacity (variable based math, some geometry and perhaps a minuscule information on material science), however each test structure could vary in the kinds of inquiries given. As in some other Multiple Choice test, one could most likely dispose of a couple of answers rapidly and afterward plug the rest of the appropriate responses into the condition to decide the right answer. This strategy takes some time longer, so hold up until every simpler inquiry have been replied and return toward the end if time remains. Sequencing and Patterns The sequencing and examples part of the test was my top pick. Either four or five numbers are given and afterward a clear space in which you should give the following number in the grouping. One of the harder ones may be as per the following: 3 9 4 16 11 _____ In this manner, for the above model, the example would be 3 (x 3) 9 (- 5) 4 (x 4) 16 (- 5) 11 (x 5) 55. By recording the potential successions on the scratch paper, it turns out to be much more clear and one can see the example substantially more rapidly. There were no dubious divisions or other abnormal examples on the test simply including, taking away, duplicating and separating whole numbers to the past number. Pictorial Analogies Offering keep going kind of inquiry on the test are the pictorial analogies. Much the same as the analogies parcel, questions are in a structure like _____ is to ______ as ______ is to _____. The thing that matters is that geometric shapes are utilized and one needs to figure out which of the various decision answers coordinates the third shape similarly the subsequent picture coordinates the principal (Guide Note: See the model at the upper right of this page. In the model appeared, the right answer would be #2, as it matches object 3 similarly that object 1 matches object 2.) Some of them will be turned, cut, or in any case controlled, however there is consistently a sensible relationship. Try not to hope to have the option to address all the inquiries on the test. A brief glance at the quantity of inquiries and time permitted shows that one has just around 45 seconds for each question and a large number of the word issues require in any event that much time simply perusing and disentangling what data is essential, at that point placing the information into a serviceable issue. It is prescribed to address all the simpler inquiries first, at that point (time allowing), return and begin taking a shot at the harder ones.In the Air Force, a score of 71 is required for the AFSC of PC programming (3D0X2) and 57 for Technical Applications Specialist (9S100). The test has nothing to do with either work from the outset, yet what it achieves is decide ones capacity to think consistently. Every one of the four pieces of the test require the enroll to think intelligently and that is basically what PC writing computer programs is.

How to Motivate Your Lazy Co-workers - The Muse
Instructions to Motivate Your Lazy Co-laborers - The Muse Instructions to Motivate Your Lazy Co-laborers I recall how energized I was for my first occupation. I was 16 and a business partner at American Eagle Outfitters-I was unable to hold back to find out about denim hues and how to utilize the extravagant looking sales register. A little while in, I got myself increasingly more disappointed with my group. I grew up being informed that, Regardless of whether you don't have anything to do, there's continually something you can do. So, I kept occupied with helping clients, collapsing shirts, arranging the back counter, and restocking waning heaps of pants. Clearly nobody else got the update, in light of the fact that while I clamored around fixing things to a great extent, my colleagues inclined toward the counter and visited, straightforwardly took a stab at the new garments in stock, or went on long quick rests. To put it delicately, it irritated me. It's never a nice sentiment when you're placing in your everything at a vocation and the individuals around you are scarcely appearing. While I spent (to an extreme) time being furious with my partners, I've taken in a great deal since. Predominantly, that it's progressively profitable to get your associates on the same wavelength than to grumble about them. In any case, how would you do that when you're not the chief? Attempt these strategies to rouse your colleagues to remain dynamic and locked in. 1. Perceive What Motivates Them In an extraordinary chat on inspiration, creator and New York Times success Gretchen Rubin talks around four sorts of individuals and how they react to rules. The Upholder is somebody who follows both external (forced on you) and internal (individual objectives) runs and is roused by satisfaction. This individual awakens thinking, What is on the timetable or plan for the day today? The Questioner is somebody who will adhere to the principles on the off chance that they bode well, and are in this way spurred by sound thinking. This individual awakens thinking, The main priority today? The Rebel is somebody who opposes all guidelines, and is rather roused by present wants. This individual awakens figuring, What would I like to do today? The Obliger is somebody who observes outside standards yet battles with their own inner guidelines, and along these lines is spurred by outer responsibility. This individual awakens thinking, What's anticipated from me today? Indeed, even before you approach your collaborator, know about what sort of individual the individual is. Is it true that she is propelled by accomplishing something, or progressively worried about allowing somebody to down? Does he question everything or hate to adhere to the principles? These characteristics truly influence how you can start to convey. Along these lines, if your collaborator tends to not react to a definitive methodology (a Renegade), it may be more intelligent to introduce a test instead of an order: Jill isn't sure we can complete the introduction by this evening. What do you think? Or, if she's an Examiner, perhaps she needs an explanation behind why she ought to contribute: Hello, any possibility you could compose that recap email to the business group? I'm stressed it's falling off excessively brutal and you're greater at communicating these things than I am. Truly, it may be as basic as how you express a solicitation that has a significant effect in whether an individual really tunes in. 2. Request Help-or Ask to Help On the off chance that you're not the chief, at that point you presumably would prefer not to outrightly advise a partner to get the opportunity to work. It most likely won't be viable, and it presumably won't acquire you such a large number of companions in the workplace. Thus, rather, you ought to acquire him instead of get him out. I don't get that's meaning? Similarly as I could've effectively solicited one from my associates to assist me with restocking the racks at AE, you can request that your partners split a venture with you, offer you guidance on a public statement you're composing, or sort out certain records close by you. Then again, when somebody doesn't appear to do anything by any means, it's customarily gainful to offer to support him. There's consistently an opportunity the explanation he's loosen is truly on the grounds that he's stuck on a thought, or possibly befuddled about a task, or overpowered to the point of surrendering. Just saying, Hello, I saw you've been gazing at your PC throughout the day-I'm free for a piece, anything I can get you out with? could be all he needs to refocus or to open up. Or then again, most ideal situation, he may very well say back, No, grieved, just got diverted. Much appreciated! and pull together all alone. 3. Be Direct with regards to How This Affects You However, when this turns into a typical event and begins to detract from your work, you reserve the option to obligingly bring it up to her that her absence of exertion is influencing your own advancement. (Note: Make sure you're talking for your own sake, and not your supervisor's or company's.) I'm a major aficionado of I explanations, for example, I'm truly overwhelmed with this task Ted allowed us this week, do you know when you'll have the opportunity to begin on it? or I'm concerned we won't get this proposition out in time on the off chance that we both don't chip away at it today. This underutilized correspondence procedure consistently offers your remarks feel not so much fierce but rather more I need you, how might we fix this together? Accepting your collaborator isn't purposefuly being apathetic as an approach to make you look terrible, this immediate methodology regularly works. Regardless of whether he no longer thinks about the work, chances are high he doesn't need anybody (counting you!) to be annoyed with him. You're not the work police, but on the other hand you're not answerable for doing others' employments for them. Thus, make some noise when vital. Simply ensure you're shouting out in a manner that will get individuals to tune in.

Plan and Implement a Take Your Child to Work Day
Plan and Implement a Take Your Child to Work Day Plan and Implement a Take Your Child to Work Day On the fourth Thursday in April, you may appear at work to see a lot of kids going around your office. Ideally, it's not because of a climate related school shut down, yet rather, to the yearly Take Your Child to Work Day. Started in 1993 by Gloria Steinem as Take Your Daughter to Work day, young men were incorporated later, and the official title is Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day. Notwithstanding the name, it's everything about showing your children life at work. Steinem started the day to outline how imperceptible ladies were in the workplace and to assist young ladies with understanding that they could try to this perceivability regardless of whether their moms hadn't. Should Your Workplace Participate in Take Your Child to Work Day? The appropriate response is perhaps. What do you do? In case you're running an eatery, attempting to acquire kindergartners to perceive how mother and father work could create an unmitigated fiasco. Then again, in case you're a support stock investments supervisory crew, permitting adolescents to come in for a couple of hours could make them fully aware of what work resembles. It's fine, in any case. Individuals won't decide to work for you or not work for you dependent on whether you take an interest in Take Your Child to Work day every year. In case you're going back and forth about it, ask your representatives. You may discover that individuals detest assembling the exercises for the kids or hauling their youngsters out of school. Or on the other hand you may discover that individuals anticipate this day all year. Each organization is unique. Ask your workers what they need to do. Thoroughly consider These Issues If Youre Considering a Take Your Child to Work Day Before pursuing Take Your Child to Work Day, you have to plunk down and think about the accompanying issues: What's your objective? To train understudies about what work life resembles? To have a great time occasion that satisfies guardians and youngsters? To post pictures on your site, with the goal that activity up-and-comers increase positive sentiments about your company? What age youngsters would it be advisable for you to permit? A few organizations center just around teenagers; some attention just on rudimentary age youngsters. Regardless, you ought to most likely reject infants and toddlers. What exercises would it be a good idea for you to have? In case you're acquiring youngsters, maybe having a short mainland breakfast with a perky talk from the HR supervisor and afterward letting the teenagers shadow their folks, is great. In case you're getting more youthful kids, perhaps you need a lot of exercises, from taking a voyage through the offices to doing riddles and games that manage the organization, lined up by lunch with mother or father. To what extent ought to the day last? Is this a throughout the day occasion? Provided that this is true, you ought not welcome small kids. Two or three hours is most likely best for this gathering, yet recollect, the guardians will at that point need to return the children to class when you're done with the Take Your Child to Work Day exercises. At the point when you've thoroughly considered these issues, you can start to design your exercises. Help divisions to remember the date with the goal that they can get ready. On the off chance that you have an enormous cutoff time coming up in promoting on that day, they most likely won't have any desire to do a great introduction for the youngsters, and that is alright. The business despite everything needs to work productively. Recollect that efficiency will probably be low that day. No parent will complete as much a youngster or high schooler shadowing them. On the off chance that you skirt the shadowing and simply have arranged exercises for the youngsters, you'll have to pull individuals from different offices to run the exercises. You Need to Invite Everyone to Participate in Take Your Child to Work Day This is a win big or bust occasion. In the event that you are going to welcome youngsters, you get the chance to set up the age boundaries and plan the exercises. You can't state, well, on the off chance that you work in the processing plant, you can't carry your kid to work since that is perilous, however you can on the off chance that you are an office laborer. While you don't need kids going around the manufacturing plant floor, making qualifications like this will raise hatred. In the event that the CEO's youngster gets the chance to come in, at that point the most up to date enlist making the least compensation additionally gets the opportunity to bring her kid. You have to treat the entirety of the youngsters the equivalent. In the event that you permit kids to shadow their folks, think about additionally permitting them to shadow individuals in different divisions. Because mother is a bookkeeper doesn't imply that Jane needs to turn into a bookkeeper. She may have more enthusiasm for innovative work. Individuals without taking part kids could possibly need to turn into a piece of the day. Simply inquire. Be that as it may, don't require cooperation. Individuals were recruited to carry out their responsibilities, not to engage children.(Unless, obviously, your companys work is to engage youngsters.) Done right, Take Your Child to Work Day can give a ton of fun, form great connections, and maybe even create some great PR, which is definitely not a terrible achievement for a couple of hours once per year. - Suzanne Lucas is an independent author who went through 10 years in corporate HR, where she employed, terminated, dealt with the numbers, and twofold checked with the legal advisors.

Your kid got welcome to a mid year celebration, and you're following along to direct. At the occasion, you wind up talking with individual working guardians about-your children. Regardless of whether the gathering is for the under-10 set, be certain that the discussion isn't exclusively kid-driven. Converse with the kindred partygoers in participation and discover what they do. While you may know them as Emily's mother or Subside's father, they're still experts with an entire life outside of their children, as well. Make certain to gain proficiency with their names and ensure they know yours, as well. You drink. 4 Ways to Go Above and Beyond at Your Job - The Muse
4 Ways to Go Above and Beyond at Your Job - The Muse 4 Ways to Go Above and Beyond at Your Job Each study hall had one. Direct raised, the correct response to each address, and a totally painted close planetary system science task to finish everything off-the token overachiever. And keeping in mind that you may have laughed at their overextending ways, let's face it: Whenever the instructor had an uncommon task, prize, or treat to give out, it as a rule went to that one child who consistently went well beyond. Turns out, the workplace isn't entirely different. At the point when you need to demonstrate your value (e.g., during your first week at work or while you're gunning for an advancement) you'll need to be that individual. Obviously, you would prefer not to be that irritating individual, causing to notice yourself for flaunting you need to exhibit your incentive by having a certified effect in your group. Things being what they are, how would you do it? To kick you off, here are four approaches well beyond busy working without going over the top. 1. Put Feedback Into Action One of the most great things you can do in your main responsibility is to endeavor to consistently improve. (Furthermore, then again, one of the most noticeably awful things you can do is to commit similar errors again and again.) To do this, start by tuning in to the input you get from your director and associates and really use it. At the point when your supervisor coolly specifies that you forgot about the list page of your report or that you appeared to be somewhat meek in your introduction, pocket that data for some other time. Whenever you have a comparative task, put those redresses enthusiastically. As you keep on improving, your supervisor will be dazzled that you've effectively utilized that criticism and will understand that the person doesn't need to stress over editing your work or placing you before a major gathering any longer. 2. Foresee Needs I've entirely begun that is music to your director's ears-it implies that as opposed to hanging tight for the person in question to request that you accomplish something, you've just idea of it and made a move. And keeping in mind that it might be difficult to consistently guess what you manager might be thinking, start by recalling your past tasks. At the point when you turn in your month to month report, does your manager consistently toss in a Can you likewise you diagram a portion of these numbers? Instead of trusting that that question will emerge once more complete the outlines and turn them in with the report. Similarly, attempt to consider your specialization or organization on a somewhat more elevated level. Is it true that you are propelling another product update one week from now? You'll most likely need to get your area of expertise's freshest recruit prepared for the looming inundation of calls. Rather than trusting that your supervisor will request that you go over those subtleties with the new worker, willingly volunteer to instruct him. 3. Carry Your Ideas to the Table On the off chance that you have a thought that will improve proficiency, help you and your partners play out your occupations better, or produce a budgetary lift for the organization, your manager needs to catch wind of it. Be that as it may, to support you and your thought stand apart much more-and increment its possibility really being executed-present it with an arrangement. I frequently have workers who will calmly specify, We should improve this procedure. But the principle reason that procedure never really gets fixed is that nobody makes solid proposals as to *how * it ought to be finished. Yet, at some point, a couple of representatives came to me with an archived procedure, composed bit by bit. They clarified they had been dealing with it to a great extent in their extra time for as far back as scarcely any weeks, and figured it would be a magnificent arrangement. Furthermore, guess what? It was. On the off chance that you carry a plan to the table with an arrangement, you'll show your group and supervisor that you're readied, creative, and committed to steady improvement. Also, as a little something extra, those thoughts are considerably more liable to be transformed into the real world. 4. Make a special effort You've most likely heard some truly insane client assistance stories-like the steakhouse that conveyed supper to a tired voyager as he showed up at the air terminal after a long flight-basically in light of the fact that he had posted a tweet mentioning a steak only hours sooner. Or on the other hand a supermarket that offered to convey staple goods for a snowed-in WWII veteran-despite the fact that the store didn't really have a conveyance administration. What's more, I recognize what you might be thinking: I'm not permitted to make outrageous signals that way. Yet, regardless of your organization's assets or the slack you're given to connect with your customers or colleagues, you can in any case make a special effort to make your communication somewhat more important: When it's 4:50 PM and a customer calls, pick up the telephone despite the fact that you'd prefer to simply disregard it, get together, and head home. At the point when a client makes a somewhat bizarre solicitation, see what you can do to get it going rather than simply answering, Sorry, I can't do that. Organization strategy. When you show this sort of responsibility everybody will take note. At the point when you reliably join these things into your every day life at work, you'll rapidly transcend the positions. In any case, more than being known as the worker who's simply attempting to elbow their way to an advancement, you'll be viewed as the representative who truly needs to see the office and group succeed.

Lunch Ideas For Kids
Lunch Ideas For Kids When I discovered I would need to pack my little girls lunch for her new childcare, my first idea was, Uhhhsay what now? She was one. I dont even recollect whether she had teeth. Alright, she had a couple yet certainly not a significant piece. How was I going to arrange snappy, sound snacks that she would really eat? I required thoughts. I required motivation. Quick. A little history. I loathe pressing snacks. There was a period, before our little girl was conceived, when my significant other and I attempted to be dependable and tune in to our money related consultant. We stayed away from going out to have for lunch and made arrangements for me to pack our snacks for work. It. Was. For hell's sake. I woke up in the first part of the day and just in a flash lamenting the inept, moronic choice to be dependable. I even begun to disdain my spouses need to have lunch at all while I chose lunch wasnt actually that essential to me and would simply do without. Here are a couple of things I need in the first part of the day: espresso, calm time, breathing room, and a hot shower. Things I dont need: following a formula or plan and set up insightful, nutritious, adjusted snacks that my significant other and I could appreciate on our mid-day breaks. Obviously, we tumbled off the bring-lunch-from-home wagon before long. Quick forward to the present. I needed to pack my girls lunch for childcare and I was unable to telephone it in. Others would be focusing this time. Her school even had a different printout committed to the specialty of pressing my childs lunch. She required a protein, a veggie and additionally organic product, and a grain for each feast. I was another mother with something to demonstrate. Furthermore, where do new mothers go when they need motivation? Pinterest. My Pinterest application used to be loaded with delightful outfits I could never wear, muddled nail craftsmanship I could never get and insane costly office merchandise I could never purchase. Presently, I have sheets for engaging a little child during stormy days and garments that shroud stomachs. However, my most devoted board is as a matter of fact simple lunch thoughts for kids; explicitly, school lunch thoughts for the otherworldly development that is the bento box. Presently, due to Pinterest, a trusty buy and straightforward arranging, I dont fear pressing lunch. I really seek to make snacks for my girl that I am desirous of and need to eat myself. The following are a couple of tips that will make pressing your children lunch a simple happiness rather than a feared task. Stage one. Purchase A BENTO BOX (essentially an excessively down to earth lunch box). I am a visual individual. I additionally love arranging things into flawless little compartments. Indeed, this isn't extraordinary when attempting to manage enormous passionate forward leaps, or so says my advisor, yet it is incredible when attempting to design a dinner. There are huge amounts of alternatives on the web, particularly on Amazon. Simply search kids bento box and scrutinize the unlimited choices. What you are searching for is a hard holder with three to four individual compartments that will hold kid measured bits for a fair dinner. It assists with getting one that accompanies a delicate spread without any difficulty while voyaging. Stage two. Conceptualize. Make a general rundown of what you need to remember for the lunch. I follow what my girls childcare spread out a protein (regardless of whether a hard-bubbled egg or chicken serving of mixed greens or even Greek yogurt or nutty spread), a new organic product/veggie, and a grain. At that point, bring a moment to write down all the proteins, new natural product, veggies, and grains (indeed, a toritlla checks!) your youngster appreciates. This is likewise when beginning a Pinterest board for kid lunch thoughts becomes possibly the most important factor. There are incalculable thoughts and blends that will motivate you. Cucumber and grapes and tomatoes; brie, wafers and hummus or nutty spread and carrots; and avocado andyogurt? Truly please! It likewise assists with seeing the snacks spread out beforethey go into the lunchbox. Everything is so basic, yet excellent and energetic. Stage three. Unwind. Keep in mind, you don't need to put together expand dinners or a gourmet plate of mixed greens or sandwich on extravagant bread each day to dazzle who? Your child who eats floor pretzels? You simply need to ensure they have a yummy, adjusted feast that incorporates food they will really eat. Also, that is the excellence of the bento box. It isn't intended to hold insane, confused sandwiches or Instagram-commendable short-term oats. Its intended for entire nourishments that go well together in a simple school lunch. Which means, sit tight for it, you dont really need to make anything. You can even accomplish straightforward prep work to make things considerably simpler for you toward the beginning of the day, similar to cut up chicken, organic products, veggies and cheddar (or even a cheddar stick) the prior night. At the point when I understood I didnt need to do any genuine preparing to make solid snacks, an entirely different lunch world opened up for me. I really partook in assembling my childs lunch in the mornings. Also, truly, I was even somewhat envious. Need some great lunch thoughts for kids? Here are a couple of test solid snacks (some of which have no bread, for all you moms who have gluten free children!) I frequently make these no formula important to ensure my girl's lunchbox will get back home vacant: 1) Fresh mozzarella (cut into cuts or scaled down pieces) Blueberries Pretzels Squeezie with products of the soil 2) Carving board turkey Cheddar stick Raspberries Veggie sticks (carrots and cucumber) with hummus 3) Cut up chicken Strawberries Carrots Grain bar 4) Squeezie with Greek yogurt Nutty spread wafers Cuts of avocado Blackberries Cheerful sticking. Cheerful pressing. - Kate Mason is an ensured life mentor, having some expertise in the lovely chaos that is parenthood. How to Leave Your Job with Dignity
How to Leave Your Job with Dignity Throughout your professional life, there will come a time when you have to leave a job. It can be a mix of emotions you may be sad to leave a place youve been for years, or you could be excited for a new experience and opportunity however its always crucial that you leave that position with dignity. You can try and anger everyone youve worked with, and leave with a bad reputation, but that will only go on to damage your future prospects. Whenever leaving a job, try to make the transition as clean and as easy as possible by being a true professional, by following these 5 steps: 1) Give your notice early and professionally: When quitting from a position, handing your notice in can be one of the most nerve-wracking experiences. Your mind will be filled with all the possible outcomes, and youll feel like youre letting people down. However, if you resign as early as possible, and in an extremely professional and courteous manner, there will be nothing to worry about. Be honest to your boss, and tell them why youre moving on, and give them the time needed to find a person to replace you in your role. Everything will work out perfectly. 2) Be positive: Everyone has ups and downs throughout anything in life, and the same can be said for your work. There are always set backs, and knock-downs, but take some time to sit down and look back at all the positive moments of your job did you get to go an amazing event? Did you learn a new skill? Have you made a bunch of new friends in your team mates? Dont dwell on the negatives, but celebrate the positives! 3) Work your notice period properly: Once youve let everyone know that youre off to pastures new, you may feel inclined to switch off mentally and just see your time out. However, that wont help yourself (as youll become bored), and it certainly wont help your company. Use your notice period to ensure you wrap up any communication with your clients (and to pass all responsibilities onto the new individual), and why not impart wisdom onto your team mates through some brain storm sessions? You may have knowledge which they have been wanting to gain, and now is the perfect time! 4) Say thank you: Over the years, there will be a large number of people who have helped you get to where you are now and its important to be grateful. Ensure you send thank you messages to any clients youre worked with, and get a thank you card for your employer. Say your thanks clearly, and outline what youve gained from your position. 5) Celebrate in style: In your final days, organise a leaving drinks with your colleagues to celebrate the time youve spent in their company. Why not make an evening of it and talk about your memories? There is nothing wrong with celebrating something positive youve done, and showing that youve enjoyed your position is the best way. Once youre done, leave the office with a smile on your face and a spring in your step ready for your next adventure!

On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Workplace Affairs Still Cause Problems
On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Workplace Affairs Still Cause Problems I have written about workplace romance before, but it appears SOME people are not paying attention.Take the case of the American Red Cross recently dumping President and CEO Mark W. Everson after it was learned he'd had an affair with a female subordinate. This kind of hanky-panky has been going on in the workplace since, well, forever, but there is a lot less tolerance of on-the-job romance in some cases. Boeing CEO Harry Stonecipher learned that lesson the hard way when he had to resign because he had a love affair with another female executive. And now Everson can join that list of people who think the rules apply to someone else.Companies -- and even nonprofits like the Red Cross -- cannot afford to have their images tarnished by tawdry affairs that cast their public reputations into the mud. That means that those with lesser titles, including everyone from a senior vice president to the newest employee, need to be even more vigilant about making sure workplace dating complies wit h any guidelines set up by the organization. (And keep in mind that the rules may be even more strict regarding dating someone else if you are already married, and still apply even if you fool around while on a business trip.)While those workplace dating rules may be written in an employee manual, they may not be. But before you even think about becoming romantically involved with someone at work, make sure you clearly understand the rules and follow them. Ask your boss or your personnel department to clarify the guidelines on workplace dating. If they don't seem to have a clue, here are some general rules that will help keep you from getting into trouble:1. No dating the boss. This is always a bad idea because the boss can be fired for dating a subordinate, and your job and reputation can be trashed as well. But let's face it: the boss probably has many more connections than you do, and stands a better chance of landing on his or her feet. You could be looking for a decent job for a long time to come. If you are the boss, keep in mind that you could face a sexual harassment charge from the subordinate if the love affair takes a bad turn.2. Keep it private. No canoodling in the hallways, supply closet or elevators. Never send anything smacking of private thoughts via e-mail to the other person while at work. This can easily be used against you (this is how Stonecipher got caught), and lead to your firing on the basis that you're using company property for your personal use. If co-workers do find out about it, refuse to be drawn into any discussion.3. Set some ground rules. Always make it clear to the other person that you want the dating kept private, and that you don't want to jeopardize your job in any way. If you believe the other person can't or won't honor that, then you may want to decline anything other than a working relationship. del.icio.us
